The Nihal Fernando (1927-2015) was more than a Photographer. An iconic figure and a legend in his own life time, Nihal Fernando was an early environmental activist. Camera in hand he traversed the nooks and crannies of the island and all the places in between. A passionate lover of Sri Lanka, his mission was to tell the story of Lanka and its people, its natural, archaeological and cultural wealth and heritage. Over a forty year period Nihal Fernando produced a vast archive of images, a few of which are exhibited here at Re/Evolution.
